- 20 May 2012 - Mike Aviles leads off with a home run for a second consecutive games as the Red Sox win 5-1 over the Phillies in Philadelphia. Harry Hooper is the only other player in franchise history to go back-to-back games with a lead-off home run.
- 21 October 2012 - The Blues Jays and Red Sox complete a deal that allows John Farrell to leave his managerial position with Toronto to take the same position with Boston. Farrell had previously served as the Sox pitching coach between 2007 and 2010 before taking his job with the Jays. The deal also sends Mike Aviles to Toronto.
